OZV ENVI - PAK

ENVI - PAK is a producer responsibility organisation. It was founded in 2003 as an authorised organisation by leading producers of packaged products. Since then, it has been providing separate waste collection, recovery, and recycling. We are therefore the longest operating authorised organisation in Slovakia.

We help producers comply with their obligations under the Waste Act and arrange and finance separate waste collection in cities and municipalities on their behalf. We educate about waste sorting and protecting the environment.

PRO EUROPE

We are part of PRO Europe, a pan-European association of producer responsibility organisations, through which we acquire and implement international know-how in Slovakia. Organisations associated in PRO Europe have already been verified and are well established and functioning in developed European countries with a long tradition of operating waste collection, recovery and recycling systems for many years. That is why they are a source of best practice recommendations, which we can use in Slovakia, as they have already been tried and tested and work well in developed European countries with a long tradition.

EXPRA

In 2013, we founded EXPRA, a Brussels-based international non-profit alliance of major industry-owned, non-profit packaging waste recovery and recycling systems. Extended producer responsibility has become a proven concept in many countries, and producers in more than 30 countries worldwide use extended producer responsibility as a proven tool to ensure the collection and recovery/recycling of packaging waste.

TRANSPARENT SYSTEM

We are a transparent and open company for all entities involved in the waste material flow – from persons placing packaging and non-packaging products on the market, through municipalities responsible for the introduction of separate waste collection on their territory, waste collection companies providing collection and final sorting of waste, to waste processors, who produce their products from sorted secondary raw materials. Our priority is to continuously improve the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the separate waste collection, recovery, and recycling system.

EDUCATION

Since our establishment, we have been carrying out educational and awareness-raising activities related to separate waste collection and recovery for the population of Slovakia. We train and educate – we organise regular free training for our partners, we teach children and adults to protect nature, prevent waste and sort it properly.

WE PROVIDE A SYSTEM OF COLLECTION, RECOVERY AND RECYCLING OF PACKAGING AND NON-PACKAGING PRODUCTS.

WE FINANCE SORTED COLLECTION SYSTEMS IN TOWNS AND MUNICIPALITIES IN SLOVAKIA ACCORDING TO THE ACT ON WASTE.

WE ORGANIZE EDUCATION ACTIVITIES AIMED AT PROMOTING THE SEPARATED WASTE COLLECTION.

PROJECT RESPONSIBLE SOCIETY, SUPPORTING RESPONSIBLE APPROACH TO ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION.

GREEN DOT is a registered trademark. Packaging marked with the GREEN DOT trademark belongs to separate waste collection.

The GREEN DOT scheme is the most widespread method of use of secondary raw materials from municipal waste in Europe.

Our activities have been repeatedly and successfully inspected by the Environmental Inspectorate of the Slovak Republic, which verified the performance of specialised activities in accordance with the applicable legislation.

MISSION

ENVI - PAK promotes a cleaner Slovakia by separate waste collection. ENVI - PAK ensures the separate collection of waste and its recovery and recycling at least within the scope of the Slovak recovery and recycling targets, thus bringing a cleaner Slovakia to all of us in cooperation with municipalities and industry.
ENVI - PAK implements the extended producer responsibility approach in Slovakia in the sense of producer responsibility from the development to the post-consumer phase of the product life cycle.
ENVI - PAK considers raising environmental awareness of consumers and industrial entities and promoting separate collection of municipal waste as a key factor of its activities.

History

ENVI - PAK was established on 16 May 2003. It was founded by leading producers of packaged products.

The Ministry of the Environment registered the company in the Register of Authorised Organisations under registration number OO_0000001 on 1 August 2004, and from that moment on it has been providing separate waste collection, recovery, and recycling as an authorised organisation. Together with the producers, ENVI - PAK has applied the "polluter pays" principle, which was translated into the extended producer responsibility as we know it today.

We became a producer responsibility organisation (PRO) on 1 July 2016 after the Ministry of the Environment of the Slovak Republic granted us authorisation for packaging and non-packaging products on 20 April 2016. We are thus a producer responsibility organisation with the longest history of operation in Slovakia.
